Membership

Become a Member of Main Street Woodbury

Woodbury is worth investing in—and when you become a member of Main Street Woodbury, you’re helping us do exactly that. Your support allows us to protect and revitalize downtown, strengthen local businesses and neighborhoods, preserve our history and character, and create opportunities for our community to grow.

We bring people, businesses, organizations, and resources together to address challenges, celebrate what makes Woodbury unique, and build a stronger future. Your membership is more than support for our organization; it is an investment in the city we all share.

When you partner with Main Street Woodbury, you are helping make Woodbury a stronger, more vibrant, and more connected place to live, work, worship, visit, and do business.

What Your Membership Pays For

A fair question, and the honest answer is that it does not go to one thing. Membership dues fund general operations and staffing so that we can fulfill our mission in these areas.

The Streetscape

Plantings, lighting, signage, and storefront improvements. Fighting landlord blight and helping new business owners find the perfect storefront. Making Woodbury stronger and more vibrant!

The Grant Work

The Grant Work – MSWI

Applications take staff hours and most grants require matching funds. Dues cover both, which is how a small membership turns into a much larger investment in this city.

The Farmers Market

The Events

The ghost tours, the golf challenge, and collaborations with other city-wide events give locals a reason to come downtown and out-of-towner’s a reason to visit!

Resident Membership

Membership for Woodbury Residents

There is a version of caring about this city that involves reading the news and having opinions at dinner. Membership is the other version. Thirty five dollars a year, no meetings, no obligations, and a direct line into the organization whose entire job is the six blocks you drive through every day.

Business Membership

Membership for Downtown Woodbury Businesses

You do not have time to organize events, work on the empty unit next door, or convince the city that the lighting on your block matters. That is our job. Business membership is how you get someone doing it, and it is deliberately cheap enough that the decision should take about a minute.

Questions About Membership

Who can become a member of Main Street Woodbury?

Anyone. Resident membership is open to people who live in Woodbury and the surrounding Gloucester County area, and you do not need to live within the downtown district to join. Business membership is for owners and operators of businesses in Woodbury. If you moved away but still care about this city, or you own property here without living here, join at the level that fits best and we will sort it out.

How long does membership last, and how does renewal work?

The new form and stripe offers an immediate option to join as a one-time member OR a recurring member. So they have that choice when they sign up. The manual renewals will be emailed and invoiced. The others will happen automatically based on their preferred method of payment when they signed up.

Is my membership tax deductible?

We are a 501(c)(3), and dues are generally deductible as a charitable contribution to the extent the law allows. Because members receive benefits, the deductible portion may be less than the full amount paid. Your receipt will have the information your accountant needs.

Do I have to attend meetings or volunteer?

No. Membership requires nothing of you beyond the dues. Volunteer opportunities are offered to members first, and you are free to ignore every one of them. Nobody will call you about a committee. If the only thing you want to do is fund the work, that is a complete and legitimate way to be a member.

What is the difference between becoming a member and making a donation?

A donation is a one-time gift. Membership is an ongoing relationship, and that is the practical difference. Members get invitations, early access, and regular updates on what the work produced, and businesses get promotion on top of that. Both fund the same downtown Woodbury work, but only one of them puts you on a list and keeps you informed.

Some people want to see the work before they fund it, which is
fair. The email list gets you the news: what happened downtown,
what your dues would be funding, and when the next event is.
What it does not get you is the invitation to that event or the early
access members have.
